Even though these are developed for patients presenting deficits in memory and cognition, possible applications can be extended to the healthy population to enhance mental functions. We are entering a new era of engineering of the mind with the emerging brain-computer interfaces, which is becoming a powerful therapeutic tool on one hand but also a controversial aid on the other.
