Meet our new BME lab scientists! 26 August 2022 – Posted in: news – Tags: 2022, Biomedical, Brain and Mind Electrophysiology, Doctoral, early stage researcher, Gdansk University of Technology, New colleagues, PhD, Science, scientists
We are delighted to introduce our new neuroscientists, who are joining the BME lab in Gdansk for doctoral studies and postdoc positions in the Opus LAP and Weave-UNISONO international collaborative projects between the Gdansk Tech, Medical University in Wroclaw, St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno and Mayo Clinic in the USA. These exciting projects start in two weeks and aim to identify and modulate the brain wave activities of specific memories in human patients implanted with electrodes to treat epilepsy.
Dr. Jesus Garcia Salinas from Mexico will take the position of postdoctoral fellow and investigate the electrophysiological and eye-tracking measures of momentary memory processes that determine whether we will remember or not.
Nastaran Hamedi and Sahar Seifzadeh from Iran will undertake their PhD projects in biomedical engineering and information technology find electrophysiological biomarkers for modulating memory processes using the latest technologies for recording and stimulation.
Sathwik Prathapagiri from India will also undertake their PhD projects in biomedical engineering and information technology to discover the brain activities that underlie groups of neurons that are encoding, storing and retrieving specific memories.
Finally, Tymoteusz Skok from the Medical University in Wroclaw wants to translate these results into the clinical practice by improving remembering of specific memories with intelligent electrical stimulation.
